Get active and have fun along the Wandle

The seventh annual Wandle Valley Festival will be held on Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 June 2010 with activities for all ages along the river in Wandsworth, Merton and Sutton.

Boys with fishing nets by the WandleThe weekend brings to life the rich history of the area and lets you enjoy at first hand the wonderful natural resources and wildlife.

Events include arts and crafts, heritage and nature discovery activities, archaeology 'digs', historical displays and talks, river clean-ups and music. There are also guided cycle rides (including family rides) and other sports activities, walks all along the river or short guided walks around parks and wetland areas.

Almost all activities are free. The Festival is made possible by the skills, enthusiasm and resources of over 40 ecology, heritage and local authority organisations.

Today, most of London's Thames tributaries flow underground or are imprisioned in concrete. The Wandle remains one of the few that is accessible for most of its length. Don't miss your chance to discover and enjoy one of the country's most interesting rivers.
